Spider-Man: Far From Home - latest Marvel's $1 billion at the box office

Marvel Studios’ hot streak continues, with Spider-Man: Far From Home becoming the ninth film from the studio to cross the $1 billion mark at the box office. It’s also the first Spider-Man movie to do so, via The Hollywood Reporter.

Due to the complexities of Marvel and Sony’s rights deal for the web-crawling superhero, that money won’t boost Disney’s already record-breaking 2019 numbers. It’ll go to Sony instead, becoming the second $1 billion film for the company, after 2012’s James Bond blockbuster Skyfall. (Don’t worry, Disney will be just fine.)

Far From Home marks the third straight $1 billion film for Marvel in 2019, following Avengers: Endgame in April and Captain Marvel in March. (The other members of Marvel’s $1 billion club include the other three Avengers movies, Black Panther, Iron Man 3, and Captain America: Civil War.)

Don’t expect Marvel to stop there, either: the studio has already announced its film plans through 2021. With anticipated films like the long-awaited solo Black Widow movie and a fourth Thor film on the docket, odds are that Marvel will have plenty more chances to reach the coveted box office figure going forward.

Instagram is testing a donation sticker in Stories

Instagram is experimenting with a potential donation sticker for its Stories feature, as spotted by app researcher Jane Manchun Wong. The feature seems similar to what Facebook offers with its fundraising and donation tools for charity or personal reasons. Based on Wong's screenshot, it looks like users will be able to search through a list of nonprofits to link directly to the sticker. Facebook has had fundraising tools since 2015, but it only recently dropped fees associated with those donations. It also offers other payment processing tools for Marketplace and Messenger. Over the past few years, Instagram has been experimenting with what payments would look like on the platform, but it has so far only released test features to allow select users to book spa appointments and restaurant reservations. Millions in cryptocurrencies frozen after Canadian founder's death

TORONTO (Reuters) - About C$180 million ($137.21 million) in cryptocurrencies have been frozen in the user accounts of Canadian digital platform Quadriga after the founder, the only person with the password to gain access, died suddenly in December. Gerald Cotten died aged 30 from complications with Crohn's disease while volunteering at an orphanage in India, according to the Facebook page of Quadriga CX, which announced his death on January 14. The platform, which allows the trading of Bitcoin, Litecoin and Ethereum, filed for creditor protection in the Nova Scotia Supreme Court last week. Quadriga has 363,000 registered users and owes a total of C$250 million to 115,000 affected users, according to an affidavit filed by Cotten's widow Jennifer Robertson on behalf of the company.
