Design
Admittedly, the designs of both the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL are slightly underwhelming.
The phones both have a two-tone design on the back of the device, with a matte bottom section contrasted with a high-shine top section.
While this does make the phone feel very smooth in the hand, it looks quite clumsy compared to the all-glass designs seen in many rival smartphones.
Camera
While I was initially concerned to hear that the smartphones both only have single-lens rear cameras, I was happily surprised to find that this didnât affect photo quality whatsoever.
The cameras cope well in a range of conditions, including when shooting in the dark, thanks to the Night Sight mode.
My favorite camera feature was the Top Shot option, which automatically detects the best shot from a burst set.
â¨As someone who always seems to the one blinking in photos, this was a welcome addition!
Dual-lens front cameras are also a fun feature, and the super-wide-angle lens could be perfect if youâre always trying to squeeze people into selfies with you.
Key features
The Pixel 3 has a range of impressive features.
Like its predecessor, the Pixel 3 features Google Lens, which lets you get information about products and places, simply by taking a photo of them.
However, as an exclusive for the Pixel 3, Google has also introduced the option for you get in-camera Lens suggestions in real-time on URLs, emails, phone numbers, addresses, and QR codes.
This could be really handy for people who regularly find themselves accumulating business cards.
Battery
Google has introduced a range of smart features to help the Pixel 3 last longer.
This includes super fast charging, as well as adaptive battery, which prioritizes power for apps and services you care about the most.
Admittedly, I only used the smartphones for a few hours, but the battery seemed to last well.
What else is in the box?
Alongside the phone itself, users get a range of helpful accessories in the box.
A pair of Pixel USB-C earbuds is included, which have impressive sound quality and sit comfortably in the ear.
While these headphones have a USB-C connector which slots straight into the phone, if youâre hanging on to a pair of headphones with a traditional headphone jack, youâll be happy to hear that a connector is also included.
